HPD Honda’s Claim TC, TCA Manufacturer Crowns TC Champion Kevin Boehm Sweeps Indianapolis SRO Finale Weekend

  • Kevin Boehm completes 2022 SRO TC class domination with pair of TC class victories on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course
  • Honda sweeps Manufacturer titles in both TC and TCA, plus TC drivers’ and teams’ championships
  • Carter Fartuch takes TCA championship battle to final race of SRO TC America season

Kevin Boehm completed his domination of the TC class in the 2022 SRO TC America season, sweeping the season finale weekend on the road course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for his 9th and 10th victories in the 14-race season.

In addition to the drivers’ crown, Honda claimed the TC Manufacturers’ Championship with the HPD Honda Civic Type R; and Boehm’s CrowdStrike with Skip Barber Racing School claimed Team Championship honors.

In TCA, Skip Barber Racing School’s Carter Fartuch took the fight for the Drivers’ Championship in the class to Sunday’s season finale, but came up just short of the title following a third-place finish.  Honda still claimed the Manufacturers’ Championship with the HPD Honda Civic Si FE1.

Boehm’s 9th and 10th wins of season – both from pole –  capped a season that saw the Ohio-based driver finish on the podium in all 14 TC rounds of the SRO TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing School season.

The TC title is Boehm’s second consecutive SRO championship, he won the TCA drivers’ title in 2021.

Behind Boehm, Ken Fukuda finished the season with a third-place finish on Sunday; while VGRT’s Celso Neto capped a promising debut season with a pair of fourth-place results.

In Friday’s opening race, Fartuch led from pole, until championship rival Gresham Wagner made his way past for the win and a seven-point championship lead going into Sunday’s finale.

Fartuch again started from pole in Sunday’s finale, and initially built a healthy lead over Wagner.  But a full-course caution to retrieve the beached Honda of Sally McNulty closed the field.  On the restart, Fartuch briefly slid off course in the first turn.

Wagner and teammate Devin Anderson were quick to take advantage of the moment to take first at second.  Fartuch was unable to challenge for the win in the closing laps, leaving the Skip Barber Racing School driver third at the finish, and a close second in the final Drivers’ Championship standings.

It’s incredible every single time. This has been a year that I will never forget. I can’t thank Skip Barber Racing School enough for prepping the car all year. We’ve been on the podium every race because of the reliability of the car first and foremost. I am really happy to have put CrowdStrike and AWS on the top step both days at Indianapolis in front of our guests. I want to thank everybody that put us together and gave us a chance to come out here and be successful. The future for me is just trying to do this again.”
